These are the unknown stories of the literature known as Hasmonean, coming from the time from which we celebrate Hanukkah. These stories are very good and full of humor, pathos, and religious meaning. Production by Jackson Snyder from the Cleft Studios.
The Book of Judith This is the long-loved story of the triumph of faithful Jewry over the embattled forces of evil. "Judith" means merely "the Jewess," and she personifies the true daughter of Israel. It is remarkable that both in Judith and in Esther the Jewish nation is saved by a woman. The fervent nationalism of the book is tempered by openness: the pagan Achior recognizes the power of Yahweh Elohim, protector of the Jews (Judith 4:13). The book may well have been written about 150 BC, but the setting of the story is indeterminate, for the main characters are unknown in any records, and the author's use of both geography and history is imaginative.
Also Includes: Daniel and Susanna cleverly expose a duo of lecherous lawyers so to preserve justice in all of Israel. Both are great and exciting stories.
Susanna fights off the
advances of two lawyers of the court and calls for help. The
lawyers accuse Judith as seducer and attempt to have her put to
death. Righteousness prevails thanks to Susanna's courage and
Daniel's wisdom. PG.

Tevit & Tevyah (The Book of Tobit) tells of the reward of perseverance in good works. Tobit's devotion to the Torah and to the set-apart way of life is answered by Yahweh's watchful benevolence, as shown in the mission of the guiding angel who rights the family's misfortunes. The story is set in Nineveh sometime during the Exile, but details of history and geography are telescoped and are not important to the appreciation the greatness of the story. The book was written c. 200 BC and existed only in Greek and Aramaic translations until Hebrew fragments were recently uncovered at Qumran.

The Wisdom of Zillah (also known as the Teachings of Silvanus) was discovered among a large group of Egyptian texts in 1948 (known as the Nag Hammadi Codices). Torah of Zillah is Messianic Nazorean Wisdom literature. This is a letter from Silas to his son, which attempts to dissuade him from joining with nationalistic terror factions. The text is specific enough to convey the message but general enough to be of no threat to establishment powers. Some scholars date Silvanus to early second century. However, there is no reason why this letter could not have been written much earlier by Silas the Nazorean (of Acts 15:22, 27, 32, 34, 40, etc.).
